Dig Your Roots Deep
Envision yourself as a tree, the seeds you sow dictating what type of person you are to become. The type of fruit you grow, emulate your successes. The harsh heat of the sun, your growing pains needed in order for you to thrive. And lastly, the length of your roots, the core foundation of all that makes you.
You.
I feel like when we were born, we are named a seed, later on, we decide what type of seed we wish to be and only you truly know your identity, and only you can carve it. With time you grow and develop but not without growing pains, at times the heat too much to bear but needed for your development. As you grow tall you begin to produce fruit, the fruits of your labour, sweet victories of your hard efforts, and the outcome of all you put towards your self-development.
Whilst all sections of this analogy are important, the key segment I wish to focus on is the last. Ensure long roots and dig them deep. To dig your roots deep is to understand one’s self in a way so organic that you and your soul are one. I found that I was someone who didn’t know themselves as well as they thought they did, an issue I feel like most of us struggle with, without realising. I am someone who is very absorbent, I find myself absorbing the auras around me unknowingly which, at one point, led to me losing touch with myself and becoming someone, I am not. Proving that my roots weren’t long enough.
Each root signifies fundamental beliefs I have that set up my core foundation of self or more simply put, the main characteristics that make me who I am and who I wish to be. By knowing the values that uphold me as a person, I am able to never shift too far from my true self. This is not me saying change is not a good thing, at times it is, as ultimately no tree stands ridge, you must move in the wind. Bend a little. But know who you are, have a vision of who you want to be and ensure that your roots remain unchanged.
As they determine what kind of person you become.
